Introduction of Lead-Free PCB Assembly
PCB assembly involves soldering components onto a printed circuit board using methods like SMT reflow soldering, wave soldering, or manual soldering. Lead-free PCB assembly refers to the use of solder that does not contain lead (Pb), ensuring the assembly is RoHS-compliant.

Leaded Solder has been widely used in the electronics industry for many years due to its excellent solderability and cost-effectiveness. The most common leaded solder composition consists of 63% tin and 37% lead, or sometimes 60% tin and 40% lead.
Lead-Free Solder, on the other hand, has become increasingly common due to health and environmental concerns associated with lead. Lead-free solder, such as SAC305, typically contains 96.5% tin, 3% silver, and 0.5% copper, along with trace amounts of other elements. This type of solder ensures compliance with RoHS standards, making it a safer and more eco-friendly choice for modern PCB assembly.
